Emergency Services Organizations Addressing Threats to Local Revenue Stability

White ribbon and scissors icon on a dark blue circle background.

Fire, ambulance, and emergency communications districts across several states are beginning to feel the impacts of local property tax reforms – often handled swiftly and without outreach from state legislators enacting tax policies.

As this trend continues into 2026 and likely 2027– the National Association of Emergency and Fire Officials (NAEFO) is bringing together emergency service districts’ leaders and advocates to address this trend.

The group will meet Tuesday, November 18, at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT to discuss impacts of recent reforms (where they’ve taken place), and how districts are advocating on current and future policy measures that undermine reliable local revenue sources for emergency services districts.

Overall – we are going to hammer down on what works, what does not work, and big picture ideas that we can begin to take back to our states to begin crafting action and readiness for 2026 legislative sessions and ballot measures.

Agenda coming soon.
